Posture, Weight Transfer & Traveling Steps

Either or both of these videos can be done with or without your balance tool to help build up strength and coordination. I recommend following along at least once without the object you'll be practicing balance with, just so you can get comfortable with what I'm showing in the videos below. We'll put on the shamadan and do these exercises with music in the next section.

Video 1
Posture & Weight Transfers:
1.Moving like a column.
2.Hips slides, head stays between feet.
3.Rolling through feet, vertical movement of the spine.
4.Rolling through feet, head stays in place.

Video 2
Travel Steps:
1.Rocking Step (with and without shimmy)
2."Awalim Step" forward and back dipping, feet alternating flat-ball-flat
3.Chasse (floating or skipping)
